Because of teacher professional development, there is no school Monday, November 7, 2011 (Funday Monday). On Tuesday, November 8, 2011 school will not be in session for elections.

Today we reviewed the assignment on simplifying radicals from last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students need to write 1 page of notes about simplifying radicals for homework.
Prep For College Algebra
Today I gave students back their quizzes from Friday over solving equations and inequalities and finding the next term in a pattern.
In class we worked on solving other varieties of linear and quadratic equations. Students do not have any homework.
Algebra 2 & Honors Algebra 2
Today in class I showed students how to find the sum of an arithmetric series of numbers using a formula based on pairing the first and last terms and multiplying by the numbers of pairs of terms. We also worked on writing formulas for the sums of an arithmetic series using sigma notation. Tomorrow we will use the graphing calculator to find sums using sigma.
For homework, students are supposed to write one page of notes on finding the sums of arithmetic series and what they learned today. They can use textbook lesson 9.4 on pages 587-591 to help. Students should identify vocabulary words, steps, and how to find the “n” value for any problem. We will review and update these notes tomorrow during class.
